For some time now, Motorola has been concerned with developing smartphones that are truly powerful. After launching many, many mid-range and even entry-level models, the manufacturer gained a sudden and well-deserved prominence in the market after the arrival of chunky devices. To prove how far this superiority goes, this article will put two powerful smartphones from the company face to face.
On one side of the ring we have the Moto G100, a recently launched device that also reached the Chinese market with the nickname of Edge S. And on the other, we have the Moto Edge +, model launched in April of last year, but with very current details and sets to compete with various models on the market. While one appears as a top-of-the-line, another arrives as a mid-range with premium features, and despite a gap of almost a year between the launch of the two, the results may or may not mean a big step forward. Design and construction
The look of the two devices are very different when compared to each other, and the way it was built may or may not please some users, according to each one's preference. The Moto G100, for example, has a very common type of design these days, with the matte plastic finish highlighting its rear that has a shiny look that draws attention.
Meanwhile, the Edge Plus has a little more refined design details, with a glass back cover, which makes its look much more elegant, accompanied by sides made of metal and a very clean set throughout the final result. A big difference between the two that divides opinions is related to the screen and the grip they provide.
In the case of the G100, we are talking about an entirely flat display, with slightly thicker edges and two holes to house the front cameras. On the other hand, the Edge Plus only has a hole in the screen, which in turn has waterfall-style sides, curved outwards.
The two also have different dimensions from each other, which compromises height and weight in the physical aspect. The Edge Plus measures 161.1 x 71.4 x 9.6 mm, and the Moto G100 measures 168.4 x 74 x 9.7 mm. That said, the G100 manages to be taller, wider and thicker than its sibling from last year, as well as heavier, as it weighs 207 grams versus the Edge Plus's 203 grams.
In terms of construction in which it is possible to see where each sensor, button and photographic module is, we can say that both are very complete. To skewer the charger, they integrate a USB-C port on the bottom, as well as a P2 connector for headphones.
The differences are on the sides and back, as on the right side the Moto G100 houses the power button with the integrated fingerprint reader, next to the volume buttons, and finally, a button to activate the Google Assistant on the side. left. The G100 has a more common rear look these days, with a package of four cameras arranged in a square module with rounded corners and shaped like a cooktop. In the duel that compares the canvas, we can say that there is a technical tie. Both devices have differences and similarities with each other, with almost the same technologies but better developed and improved in some cases. Talking first about the similarities between them, the 6,7-inch screen is present in both models, with the same 90 Hz refresh rate, which by itself, reproduces images much more fluidly and smoothly, which is very well used in games.
Full HD+ resolution is also present in both models, but with a minimal difference in the number of pixels. For example, the Moto G100 has 2520x1080 pixels, which allows for 409 pixels per inch. The Edge Plus, on the other hand, has a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels, guaranteeing a space of 385 pixels per inch. Note that another point to highlight is the support for the HDR standard, which despite everything also has differences: while the G100 is the HDR10 format, the Edge Plus is slightly superior with HDR10+.
So far, both models have practically the same screen configuration, and what is lacking in one, it makes up for by another feature better than its brother. Despite this, the big difference is in the type of screen: LTPS LCD on the Moto G100 and OLED on the Edge Plus. This means that the end result is not identical, with much deeper and more vivid images on the Edge Plus, unlike the G100, which does not leave the black with a color closer to dark gray than the black itself, since the pixels do not fade. totally.
If placed side by side, playing the same content, it is possible to see the difference that an OLED screen makes, mainly because the Edge Plus supports 10-bit, which makes it capable of reproducing much more colors than the model launched this year. .

Cameras
Returning to the cameras, we also realize that both have differences and similarities. Starting with the same, the two have a camera package that includes a ToF sensor for depth of field use, as well as a 16MP ultrawide camera, capable of capturing images from wide angles while also being able to use it as a macro provided by its autofocus.
The differences are evident in the fourth camera, as the G100 has a 2MP sensor for depth data, and the Edge Plus has a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. In addition, the main camera of the two models also has differences, with a 108MP and f/1.8 aperture on the Edge Plus, capable of capturing images with much more detail, versus a 64MP camera with f/1.7 aperture for the G100.

The Moto G100, in turn, is integrated with the same memory configurations as its brother, but with a Snapdragon 870 under the hood. When compared, we can say that both have the same performance by sharing the same medium and low performance cores, with differences only in the maximum speed reached.
The Edge Plus's Snapdragon 865 can reach a maximum speed of 2,84GHz with its main core, while the Moto G870's Snapdragon 100 goes up to 3,2GHz. Being slightly better, we can say that the performance achieved by the two models is extremely similar, not to say almost identical.

The Moto Edge Plus and Moto G100 are also very similar in terms of energy, sharing the same battery with a 5.000 mAh tank, with specific differences in speed and supported power for charging.

So, if you are looking for a good smartphone model but want to spend less, the Moto G100 is our recommendation, since in practice, the performance of both is basically identical. The differences that are best highlighted in it, we have the dual front camera and a more updated processor and capable of being slightly better than its brother.
Its finish and feature cuts match the proposal to make the device cheaper. For example, it could have been equipped with the mighty Snapdragon 888, but that would have made it much more expensive and would classify it as a high-end rather than a premium-looking mid-ranger.
