If the soon-to-be-released bundle of classic Disney games Aladdin and The Lion King is too modern for you, no problem, as a company called iam8bit has come up with a solution. In partnership with Nighthawk and Disney, the company will release special editions of $50 per game for Nintendo Switch, where they will come with retro packaging. However, this is not the only thing that will be released for collector fans to buy, special editions of US$100 will be made where there will be cartridges compatible with the Super Nintendo (SNES) and Mega Drive (Genesis) in the package.
The Aladdin and Lion King games ported to Nintendo Switch with enhanced graphics aren't bad, but there's now the possibility to invest another $70 and have a color cartridge with retro packaging to play on your collection console. However, unfortunately those who choose to buy this "deluxe edition", will have to wait longer than people who purchase the "normal" version that will be sold for Switch. Retro sleeved versions will not ship before December 10, and cartridge versions will not ship until early 2020.
We’re pleased to announce not one but TWO 16-bit #Disney classics are the latest entries in our Legacy Cartridge Collection.
The Lion King on Super Nintendo. Aladdin on SEGA Genesis. Limited to 4,500 copies each.
Pre-orders open 10/24 at 10 am PST.https://t.co/09hp1nmmUA pic.twitter.com/JonXn0C7bI
Cartridge editions will come fully restored, with retro covers and a one-in-eight chance of getting a special glow-in-the-dark cartridge (purple for Aladdin and yellow for The Lion King). Only 4500 units will be sold, so if you want, buy as soon as possible and reserve yours.
