Biggest games by install size on PC

Biggest games by install size on PC

Perhaps this may be a useless curiosity for some, but with the games getting bigger, both on PC and on new generation consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X), one has to think a little about which title to install taking into account the space available on devices. Some games are so large that it is impossible to install them on a 250GB SSD, for example.

    List advantage

The list in this article can probably help you avoid game purchases that don't fit on a gamer's computer's internal storage drive. More and more "infinite" titles are emerging, where with each season released, the total size of the game increases.

List of biggest games by install size

Some games may not have the correct install size due to the constant updates that certain titles have. Some games may have increased in size, while others may have had reductions, such as Fortnite, which decreased from 60GB to 30GB. Check out the list of the biggest games by install size below:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare [231GB]

Call of Duty (CoD) Modern Warfare being the game with the largest install size comes as no surprise to many who follow the game. When combining CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone, the title is king of the storage space required for installation.

    Hitman 2 [149GB]

Like all DLC, Hitman 2 has Hitman. This means that the game has a totally different scenario in terms of textures and digitally heavy objects.

Rainbow Six: Siege by Tom Clancy (with HD Texture Packs) [131GB]

Rainbow Six: Siege is a game of epic proportions, whether with or without the HD texture packs.

    Microsoft Flight Simulator [127GB]

It is simply planet earth on a 1:1 scale. Only that.

    Red Dead Redemption 2 [116GB]

It's an impressive breakdown in almost every way when looking at Red Dead Redemption 2.

    Borderlands 3 [116GB]

All those unpacked characters and attacks make for a powerful setup.

    ARK: Survival Evolved [112GB]

I don't know the game well, but it seems ARK is no longer related to wooden shacks and friendly dinosaurs. We now have over 100GB of varied content on the island.

    Assassin's Creed: Odyssey [110GB]

It is possible to visit Greece during the pandemic wherever you are, you know? Just play Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for the same experience. Obviously it's a joke, but it's a great and beautiful huge game.

    Vermintide 2 [94GB]

It's basically Destiny, but with mice. So it's not surprising to see it almost match the Destiny 2 install in terms of size.

    Destiny 2 [92GB]

Bungie has already admitted that it's daunting to oversee all of Destiny 2's content, which is why it's scrapping some of it in the next expansion.

    Grand Theft Auto 5 [90GB]

What to say about GTA 5? Nothing, it's just a work of art moving.

    Battlefield V [89GB]

Battlefield's scale has been increased even further and consequently the installation has increased along with all the game modes and features implemented.

    Gears 5 [86GB]

Although Microsoft abandoned "of War", there are still many heavy "gears" out there, more precisely in the size of 86GB.

    Baldur's Gate 3 [82GB]

It's just a part and it already has 82GB. Surely this game will increase in size.

    Forza Horizon 4 [77GB]

There's no way to be surprised when it comes to car games taking up a lot of space. There's a whole subgenre of racing games dedicated to just looking at fancy cars.

    Metro Exodus [70GB]

Even though the previous games essentially took place inside a subway tunnel, this one goes a little further.

    Half-Life: Alyx [68GB]

You don't even need to explain, just the fact that the game uses virtual reality and Valve took great care to render the objects, the size already makes perfect sense.

    World of Warcraft [67GB]

As it is now, World of Warcraft is a huge game at 67GB. It probably increased even more with the arrival of Shadowlands.

    Death Stranding [64GB]

In order to be able to perfectly reproduce the face of Norman Reedus, which Kojima Productions is contractually obliged to do, it was necessary to create an entire environment and characters compatible with the level of detail. Jokes aside, it's a sensational game and worth checking out.
