Although the battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone seems to have somewhat overshadowed the latest titles in the franchise, reaching 75 million downloads this month, Activison has not let go of its plans to release a new title later this year. After many rumors and rumors, finally the name of the new title of the Call of Duty series has just been revealed, the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
According to the trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, the title will be "inspired by real events" and during the video a real speech by a KGB defector is shown to better illustrate the point of view of the game. Then compare with the video below:
You can check out here some old articles about Yuri Bezmenov (cited in the videos) that the (real-life) CIA archived in their reading library.
During the trailer, text appears flashing with white letters (in English) that turn red (in Russian), showing that players will be able to play with an alleged Soviet spy codenamed "Perseus", who aims to "subvert the US to secure Soviet dominance in the arms race". The (real-life) CIA has an article about a "Perseus", who allegedly belonged to the group of spies who stole US nuclear secrets from the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. However, this case would have occurred during the Second World War.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be fully revealed on August 26th. To date, there's not much to say, other than the game's slogan, "Know your story or be doomed to repeat it", and the name "Verdansk" that is in the description of the trailer video on YouTube, which is the main map in Warzone and is also a highlight in Modern Warfare.
