Cyberpunk 2077: Update 1.06 prevents corrupted save games

CD Projekt Red is back with another update to their impressive (buggy) game, Cyberpunk 2077, this hotpatch, while small, is vitally important.

The update arrives to fix the game save file corruption issue that was affecting players on PC. The update also brings some fixes for console owners that will hopefully reduce the number of crashes.

Compared to previous hotfixes, the 1.06 update for Cyberpunk 2077 is small. That said, such a fix is important for PC gamers because it removed the save file size limitation, which was 8MB, which was causing corrupted game saves.

Cyberpunk 2077: The game has sold over 13 million copies, even with refunds

The company notes that the update will not fix any game save files that were corrupted before the patch was rolled out, so you will have to start over if you are one of the players that was affected by this issue. That aside, the update also addresses the issue with game crashes on consoles.

For those players, CD Projekt Red says the update improves stability and memory management and these two changes should reduce the number of times the game crashes (not kill them). Those are the two big aspects of this patch; the third change involves missions.

Hotfix 1.06 fixes a bug so that Dum Dum will no longer disappear from the Totentanz entrance during the "Second Conflict" Quest. Players can download the update now and then head to the Cyberpunk 2077 website to check the patch notes for previous hotfix releases.
