DotA 2: The International 2019 already has a prize pool of $26,5 million

The International event, known as the biggest championship in the Dota 2 game, begins its preparations for the 2019 edition with a price that is already worth US$26,5 million in prizes (approximately US$99,5 million). The amount was collected in just 63 days of collection, breaking the record by 26% compared to last year's collection in the same period.

The championship will take place in the city of Shanghai, China. The event will start on the 15th of August and end on the 25th of the same month. The fundraising for the tournament will occur until its closing and probably the amount mentioned above should increase.

You must be wondering how it is possible to get such a large amount in prize money for a PC game championship. This amount is raised through the sum of US$1,6 million paid by Valve with Battle Passes (paid in-game products). In other words, the most responsible for the game's award are the microtransactions carried out by the players. This functionality of paid products within the game has existed since 2013.
