Sony today announces two new colors for the PS5's DualSense controllers. The first is called "cosmic red" which has a design that uses black and two shades of red. The second color is called "midnight black", where we have a color design similar to the PS2, PS3 and PS4 controllers.
Since the launch of the PlayStation 5, Sony had only offered the controller that debuted with the console, where white is predominant with black accents. With the new DualSense models, gamers will have more freedom to choose which design they like best.
The "midnight black" color will likely be preferred, as it goes back to the design of Sony's previous consoles and brings a certain nostalgia, as well as being a matter of custom. There is also no denying that the color black looks good on just about everything, it goes easily with anything.
PS5 has already had 7,8 million units sold since its launchSo far, Sony has only announced new colors for its DualSense controller, even though the PlayStation 5 has removable sides, allowing it to be swapped for a different color design. Anyway, there are already companies that are offering this option, such as Dbrand.
Launch and availability
According to the information available, the new DualSense colors should be available for purchase in June 2021, but there is still no exact date. The DualSense "Midnight Black" will retail for US$69,99 while the DualSense "Cosmic Red" will retail for US$74,99.
