Google will launch Android games on Windows in 2022

Google will release Android games on Windows in 2022. According to TheVerge, the Google Play Games app will be available next year and will allow titles on Google Play to run on Windows notebooks, PCs and tablets. The announcement took place during the The Game Awards 2021, an event that awarded the best games of the year, from mobile games to the best narratives, among other categories.

Product Director of Android Games and Google Play Greg Hartrell told TheVerge:

"Starting in 2022, gamers will be able to experience their favorite Google Play games on more devices: seamlessly switching between a phone, tablet, Chromebook and, soon, Windows PCs. This Google-powered product brings the best of Google Play Games to life. to more laptops and desktops, and we're excited to expand our platform so gamers can enjoy their favorite Android games even more."

According to Google spokesman Alex Garcia-Kummert, the company developed the app on its own. That is, a partnership with Microsoft was not made. The new Google Play Games app will allow the player to resume games on the computer that were started on the mobile and vice versa.

Instead of using streaming games to play them on the computer, Google developed a system to run the titles locally. It is not yet known what technology Google is using to emulate Android apps on Windows. Greg Hartrell says:

"This will be a native Windows app distributed by Google, which will support Windows 10 and above. It will not involve game streaming."

During The Game Awards (TGA) 2021, Google announced that it would bring the Google Play Games app sometime in 2022, but did not give any exact date.
