Henry Cavill suffers injury while filming The Witcher and is removed

Henry Cavill seems to be taking the role of Geralt of Rivia, the wizard from The Witcher, seriously in the series of the famous Polish saga that originated in the books and conquered the world through its great success in the games, reaching its apex with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the masterpiece developed by CD Projekt Red.

The second season of The Witcher has already had its recordings affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has caused discontent among fans who are eagerly awaiting the continuation of the 2019 success. Now, another problem has appeared in the way of production. The star Henry Cavill, protagonist of the series, suffered a more serious injury during its recordings.

According to a source from the English website, The Sun, Cavill would have injured his leg while recording a scene from six meters high. The source claims that no ambulance needed to be called, but the actor was clearly in a lot of pain.

"The footage was hit because of what happened to Henry. He was on an assault course and injured his leg. He just suddenly stopped and was clearly in a lot of pain. It was unclear if an object hit his leg or it was some kind of injury to the hamstring or muscle."

Recordings possibly stalled

Again to the dismay of fans, The Sun reported that production on the series has been halted and will be put on hold until the star is able to shoot again. Other information about Cavill has not yet been released, so the time of stoppage of filming is still indefinite.

The source of the English site claims that the injury would have been strong enough that Cavill would not be able to use his armor, as it is very heavy, which would make it impossible to record several scenes.

However, other outlets came up with encouraging statements for fans, reporting that the recordings would maintain their normal pace with scenes in which Geralt of Rivia is not present, thus obviously dispensing with the need to have Henry Cavill on set.
