Hey pirates! Rare commemorates 1.000 days of Sea of ​​Thieves

Sea of ​​Thieves, Microsoft's exclusive title, is celebrating 1.000 days since its worldwide release. The cartoonish action-adventure game that puts players in the shoes of a pirate now celebrates a long period when islands were explored, treasures were discovered and ships sailed in search of adventure and riches. In celebration, Rare has announced a slew of upcoming content, including free items and even a new audio book.

The title exactly completed its thousandth day last Tuesday (14), the date that started the special celebration. All players who play Sea of ​​Thieves between December 14th and December 16th will receive a special 1.000-day game eye patch. The item will have the Roman numeral M stamped in red. In addition, players who have been on this journey since the beginning, as a thank you for their loyalty, will receive another eyepatch in the same style but in gold.

The red eye patch will be given to players 72 hours after logging in, while the gold one will arrive next week.

Rare also took the opportunity to announce that the novel Sea of ​​Thieves: Athena's Fortune is getting its audiobook version. Actor Toby Stephens (Black Sails) is the one who reads the plot while players are able to hear sounds and music taken from the game itself. Athena's Fortune tells the origins of the Pirate Lord and Leader of Bilge Rat Larinna, who has recently taken up his post outside the tavern, becoming well known among players.

The audiobook will be available for free streaming and download in early 2021 on select services.
