Just like in 2020, the in-person E3 was canceled

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause changes in several areas, with the situation being no different in the world of video games. As it was in 2020, we will not have an in-person E3 this year. Last year, the cancellation of the event was decided as the pandemic began to gain strength across the world.

Now, the Los Angeles Tourism Development Commission has announced the cancellation of the in-person edition of the event in 2021. But at least this time we will be able to follow news regarding games, as E3 will take place digitally.

According to the VGC, E3 2021 will take place on June 15, 16, and 17. ESA, responsible for the event, will work alongside the developers and publishers to carry out various live broadcasts. According to ESA, the event will be something "reimagined" for all fans.

"ESA's intention is to host multiple sessions with two-hour partner presentations, an awards show, a preview night on June 14, and other smaller streams from game publishers, influencers, and media partners. "

The digital format could become the official E3 format in the next few years. Many already believe that the traditional format is outdated and ends up offering an event far from the public.

With live streams reaching increasingly impressive numbers, the future of events like E3 looks to be digital.

E3 2021 should happen with digital event

    Geoff Keighley de fora

Geoff Keighley, one of the most famous names in the industry and with a strong connection to E3, will not be organizing the event in 2021.

Keighley will reserve his focus for the Summer Game Fest event, which has already taken place in 2020 and featured partnerships with several publishers.
