Surprising fans, Kevin Hart has officially been cast in the Borderlands movie. In the big screen adaptation made by Lionsgate, the actor will play the character Roland.
The news comes as a surprise to fans as the role is totally different from other characters already played by Hart. While the actor is famous for being a comedian, this new job will require him to show other acting skills, bringing to life a character that is not focused on the comedic side.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor who joins Cate Blanchett in the cast of the long, was involved in a negotiation that lasted a few months with the studio Lionsgate.

Eli Roth, the film's director, commented on this being a different challenge for Kevin Hart.
"It's a different role for him, we're excited to delight the audience with a side of Kevin they've never seen. He's going to be a great Roland."
Award-winning director is chosen for the first episode of The Last of Usknown names
The Borderlands film will have a script written by Craig Mazin, who will also be responsible for the adaptation of The Last of Us by HBO. Film production will also include the involvement of Randy Pitchford, director of the game, and Strauss Zelnick, executive director of Take-Two.
In addition to Kevin Hart, the film also has Cate Blanchett in the cast. The actress was confirmed as Lilith in May 2020. Blanchett is an extremely successful actress with participation in several important titles such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, in addition to having won two Oscars with the films The Aviator (2005) and Blue Jasmine ( 2014).
The Borderlands movie does not yet have a release date. Shooting should begin sometime in 2021.
