Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit brings the game to life using AR and miniatures

There was recently a special Nintendo Direct in celebration of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario. Amid nostalgic ads like Super Mario Bros. 35 and the Super Mario 3D All-Stars HD Remastered Classic Game Pack, a new game called Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit has been announced. It is interesting to note that this new title brings together the player's environment with digital objects created by the game, that is, it uses augmented reality, but in an incredibly creative way!

Through a partnership with Velan Studios, Nintendo was able to create an experience that blends reality with the virtual in a surprising way. In Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, players will be able to compete while a real Kart literally runs around the room following the commands given on the Joy-cons. It is interesting to note that the kart tries to respond faithfully to what happens in the game, for example, gaining momentum with an item the player has obtained or stopping when it is hit by something (it just doesn't spin in the air like in other Mario Kart games ).

    How will the game work?

To assemble the course of the Mario Kart Live track in the room, structures in the shape of finish lines are used. With this, the path will form on the Nintendo Switch screen, and can take several forms, as shown in the game's demo video.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is announced! Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy in HD!

Mario Kart Live will have modes like Gran Prix, skins to unlock and customizable tracks. The game will accept up to 4 players to compete locally.

    Availability and release

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will be released on October 16th and will arrive in two versions: one with Mario's kart and one with Luigi's. The amount that will be charged in the US is US$99,99, it is expected that with the debut of the Nintendo Switch in Spain, the game will be made available in the country as well.
