Meet the virtual influencer who should become the next League of Legends champion

The next League of Legends champion to be officially revealed should be virtual celebrity and newest K/DA (one of two virtual bands Riot Games has released) K/DA feature Seraphine. Rumor has it, she's been given a release date at Worlds 2020, this year's League of Legends world championship.

Seraphine, the next champion of League of Legends

On August 19, the League of Legends community discovered a mysterious Twitter account by the name of @seradotwav. This profile, created months earlier, was soon revealed to be a Riot account, based around champion number 152.

Now, weeks later, the character has joined K/DA and has multiple abilities leaked. The new 2020 world champion's planned release date will also coincide with the release of K/DA's new EP; here's everything we know about Seraphine:

    Seraphine joins K/DA

League of Legends' first musical group K/DA announced their comeback on August 27, revealing that they would be featuring new artists on their debut album. The first artist to be featured was Seraphine, the mysterious Twitter star. It was confirmed on Seraphine's Twitter on September 4 that she will be connecting with K/DA to help "produce her album and participate in an upcoming track".

This revelation was also the final piece of the puzzle that confirmed that the Seraphine character was related to League of Legends. It also captured the fact that the "wannabe singer" was actually part of the Riot Games universe. Seraphine already has months of existence on social networks, gathering followers as well as any other apparent virtual influencer, such as the famous Mikela. It also demonstrates that there is a mysterious artist behind Seraphine and her voice and that Riot Games has orchestrated a fabulous and unprecedented marketing ploy.

    Your skills

Seraphine teasers began appearing on mysterious Twitter and Instagram accounts. The singer has already had two of her abilities leaked, thanks to users who found mentions of the new champion in the archives of Riot's mobile, Wild Rift.

Her passive appears to incorporate a new "Echo" mechanic that allows her to cast abilities twice. Using her abilities near allies also grants "notes", which gives her extra attack range and damage on her next attack.

Seraphine's third ability will protect all nearby allied champions, granting them movement speed - similar to Karma. However, if Seraphine is already protected, nearby allies will be healed based on lost health.

This, combined with the Echo passive, means that Seraphine can protect and heal her allies at the same time if she has her passive stacked. Even though she is a mage, she shouldn't be a support, at least not exclusively. The rest of her kit remains a mystery.

Even though K/DA has already made their big comeback with their pre-release of "The Baddest", Seraphine doesn't sing with Ahri, Evelynn, Akali and Kai'Sa. This means that her participation will probably be released as the great song of this year's world.
