Metro franchise will gain online multiplayer and other news in the future

Metro, the survival horror first-person shooter franchise, is celebrating its tenth anniversary, so 4A Games decided to reveal exciting information for its fans, creating very high expectations about what the future will offer players.

Lots of content on the way

With the arrival of the new generation, 4A Games has in mind many projects for the franchise, including areas not yet explored. For now, the closest thing to fans is the version of Metro Exodus for the new generation of consoles. The game that was released in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox one, in 2021 will also arrive for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X with reduced loading times, frame rate improvements, increased resolution and Ray Tracing support, one of the most striking innovations of the generation.

In addition to the updated version of its latest title, the game series will also feature an unprecedented release very soon. Although we still don't have much information about the project, the developer stated that the new Metro is already in development being built for the new consoles, counting on a complete overhaul of the graphics engine to make the most of the new generation hardware. It was even said that the result will be a great single-player experience and that fans will certainly be excited for the next chapter.

    December game releases

As if that wasn't enough, fans even received more encouraging information. Surprisingly, but excitingly, 4A Games has announced that it is studying a way to bring online multiplayer to the franchise, in partnership with Saber Interactive, responsible for World War Z. said that a team would be focused solely on this new area, so that it wouldn't affect the single-player content found in upcoming releases.

4A games commented on the matter as follows.

"We are committed to ensuring that everything we do is not at the expense of our single-player ambitions. We need a dedicated team focused solely on the online component, and that's what our new partnership with Saber can bring; years of experience , technology and know-how to help us realize our ambitions."

Although the idea exists, multiplayer is not yet in the development process. According to 4A Games, the information does not mean that the next Metro will have a multiplayer mode or even that it will be a title focused only on this type of experience, as the developer is still in the process of discovering the new possibilities and is also absolutely committed to single player journeys.
