On January 22, Microsoft announced that the Xbox Live Gold subscription would have a price increase, starting to require players to pay a higher price to guarantee the benefits of the service. While the one-month subscription would be 1 dollar more expensive and the three-month subscription would cost 5 dollars more, the biggest change would be in the six-month subscription that would increase by 20 dollars, reaching the value of 60 dollars, equaling the price of the old one-year subscription.
However, after the community was dissatisfied with the change in prices, Microsoft immediately decided to reverse the situation. On the 23rd, the company used the official Xbox Twitter to claim that it had made a mistake. In this way, Microsoft informed that players will be able to continue with all the advantages of the service for the same price, without any changes announced the day before.
Check out the tweet from the American company.

In addition to the information that the change in the price of the service would no longer happen, Microsoft also revealed another reason for celebration for fans. Gamers will no longer need to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold to enjoy free-to-play games, and will be able to play them even without a subscription.
"To bring Xbox Live more in line with how we see the gamer at the center of their experience, we will be removing the Gold subscription requirement to play free-to-play titles. We are starting work on this immediately and will have updates in the coming months."
