Microsoft no longer plans to release its exclusives for Nintendo Switch or PS4

Earlier this year we had several surprises, such as Sony and Microsoft partnering and Nintendo thanking Microsoft for making Cuphead a reality on the Switch platform. Earlier this week, Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition was also announced for the Nintendo console. However, even with this union between Microsoft and Nintendo to release games on both platforms, it seems we won't have any Xbox exclusive games coming to Switch or PS4 for a long time.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson told gamesindustry.biz:

"The past year has been an exciting time for us as we have more than doubled the in-house creative teams that make up Xbox Game Studios. As these new studios changed, we were aware of some existing commitments to other platforms and would honor them. However, going forward these new studios will focus on creating games for our platforms. We have no plans to further expand our exclusive top-tier games to other consoles. We continue to believe deeply in cross-play and game progression with right flexibility for developers to ensure a fair and fun experience."

      • Minimum and recommended requirements to run Fortnite on PC in 2022
      • Minimum requirements to play PUBG on PC
If you were dreaming about Forza, Gears, Halo or even Killer Instinct appearing on a platform other than Xbox, you can "delete" that thought. Currently, Microsoft plans to focus on xCloud to make its games available on multiple devices, but something will hardly appear for other consoles, which also invest in their own game streaming platform.
