Microsoft seems to be looking to buy Japanese studios

At the end of September this year, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media, owner of Bethesda Softworks studio, responsible for creating and publishing titles such as The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, Doom, Dishonored, Quake, Starfield and more. Now, it seems the company is negotiating the purchase of studios in Japan.

Information about the negotiations between the Japanese studios and Microsoft came through the Bloomberg website, where it was said that:

"A number of Japan-based game developers, from small to large, said [Microsoft] has approached them about buying their business."

Amazingly, in Japan Microsoft is not popular at all. According to Famitsu, only 0,1% of console sales this year in the Asian country were from Xbox One. However, it is believed that the Xbox Series S (which has a small body to fit in tight rooms) and the Xbox Game Pass subscription service could help the company garner a bigger share of the Japanese gaming market.

Japan has the highest per capita spending on gaming in the world

According to Bloomberg, although China and the US are the biggest gaming markets in the world right now, Japan holds the title of highest per capita spending on gaming in the world. This fact is probably interesting for a company that has already bought Mojang, Double Fine Productions, inXile Entertainment, ZeniMax Media and Obsidian. This is further reinforced by CEO Satya Nadella saying that the planned acquisitions are not over yet.
