Nintendo accounts are being hacked en masse, change your password now!

In March, many users of Nintendo's online accounts received alert messages informing them that unauthorized access was taking place. Apparently, so far there has been no decrease in the number of account hacks.

According to the website Eurogamer, the invasion of Nintendo profiles is taking place in several countries around the world. In some cases, there was even the use of saved data from means of payment (Paypal) to make purchases of game currencies such as VBuckus in Fortnite.

The Ars Technica writer was one of the victims of the hacker attack and according to him, the only common ground he had with the other account theft cases was his use of the Nintendo Network ID service. This platform allowed users of the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video games to connect to various online services, including shopping at the eShop (Nintendo store). However, it is still not certain that this is really the source of the violation.

Nintendo even posted on Twitter encouraging players to use two-factor authentication

On April 10, Nintendo of America posted a message on Twitter encouraging players to "help protect [your] Nintendo Account by enabling two-step verification" (also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA). It is believed that there is a high chance that this warning is linked to account hacks.

You can help secure your Nintendo Account by enabling 2-Step Verification.
