No Mans Sky launches first weekly community event

No Man's Sky will win its first series of community events, announced Hello Games, which says it has planned its first season of free weekly content. This news had been revealed before the NEXT update hit the game last month, when the developer revealed that the title would receive a schedule of special live events.

According to the game's blog post, today's premiere is available to all players who complete the first Anomaly in Space mission. The text also details the activities of the first event, in which players must excavate "strange objects" for a character named Specialist Polo.

This character should offer a payment to players, with a new currency called Quicksilver, which can be used to buy various things, such as new parts, decals, character customization options and more. Plus, more collectibles will be introduced in the coming weeks and future community events will "grow in functionality".

Community missions allow players to earn Quicksilver, to exchange for items built by Polo’s robotic companion. Character customisation, new emotes, trophy base building parts and more. These will grow over time, and everything will be free with no microtransactions. pic.twitter.com/6ZbjJRMd1F

The players who manage to dig up and deliver the most during the events will get more and more rewards. These event rewards that will become available will expand to over 50 items as the first season of live events unfolds. No Man's Sky is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
