[Overwatch] Blizzard cancels Nintendo Switch game launch event in New York

If you intended to attend, or at least watch, the Overwatch launch event on the Nintendo Switch platform in New York, you might be disappointed as Blizzard recently announced the cancellation of the event. The announcement was made through the official Nintendo New York account.

"Please be aware that the previously announced Overwatch launch event scheduled for Wednesday, 16/10 at NintendoNYC has been canceled by Blizzard. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

So far, no explanation has been given as to why the event was cancelled, but there are a lot of rumors out there. It is believed that the action was likely prompted by the recent fan boycott of Blizzard in China. The reason for the boycott was the treatment given to Hearthstone player Ng "Blitzchung" Wai Chung after he expressed solidarity with the Hong Kong protesters.

The game developer may be expecting a demonstration tomorrow, when the event would be held. However, the reason that led to the cancellation may have been another completely different.
