PlayStation Store will end the sale of movies and series

Sony recently confirmed that it will discontinue the functionality of purchasing movies and series on the PlayStation Store. The decision was made after analyzing the "roaring increase" in the number of PlayStation fans using "subscription or advertising services" such as, for example, Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and others.

According to Sony's PlayStation Blog post, its store "will no longer offer purchases of movies and series from August 31st." Users who purchase content before this date will have access to it until the time limit expires. You can watch movies and series through PS4, PS5 and mobile devices (smartphones and tablets).

At the end of its statement, Sony says it aims to "improve the PlayStation entertainment experience". There is the possibility of something coming up in the future according to this speech, but it is believed that it will not be soon.

Sony pulls almost the entire development team out of Japan Studio
