Sony revealed today the new controllers for the PlayStation VR 2. They combine finger tracking with the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense, the PS5 controller. According to the company, the new generation of PSVR will provide "a much deeper sense of presence and a stronger sense of immersion in VR experiences".
The PSVR 2 was revealed via the PlayStation Blog, showing that the design has been changed from the stick to a more ergonomic shape that fits in the user's hands. The new "orb" shape controls allow for a more natural fit in the player's hands without restricting the fingers.
Features
The new PSVR will feature the two great new features brought to the DualSense, PS5 controller, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This will give the player more immersion. In addition, finger touch detection has also been implemented, allowing the controller to detect your fingers without the need to press buttons, allowing for "more natural gestures", according to Sony.
Tracking the position of controls and buttons
At the base of the new PlayStation VR 2 will be a tracking ring that will be detected by the headset instead of the PlayStation camera. Each side of the controller has a joystick, a grip button, a trigger, and two small buttons. Also, on the left side there is the "create" button while on the right we have the "options" button.
