The announced new functionality was revealed in the month of May of this year in an attempt to improve the effects of augmented reality in Pokemon Go. When players digitize the locations of Pokestops, developers will be able to create 3D maps of these regions. In this way, it will be possible for pokemons to interact with objects in the real world hiding behind a tree, for example.

To use augmented reality (AR) in Pokemon Go, the cell phone uses its camera to capture images and combines 3D objects created virtually with elements of the real environment. In this way, it is possible to see a Pikachu walking down the street in front of you looking at your cell phone screen.
