PS5 gets new lighter version and doesn't need a screwdriver for the base

Silently Sony released in Australia a revised version of the PlayStation 5. The information came through the Australian website PressStart, where it is reported about the sale of revised models of the PS5 console with a change in the shape of the base screw. Fortunately, with the change made, the part no longer needs a screwdriver to be removed or fitted.

In addition to the modification to the PS5 base screw design, Sony's video game is also 300 grams lighter than the launch version. It is not yet known what was changed by the manufacturer to reduce weight, but it is known that the new models have the identification number CFI-1102A (the old version has the code CFI-1000).

Australia could be the first country to receive the modified version of the PS5

The PS5 base screw change is a very welcome change and seems to have first appeared in Australia. However, while there is no longer the need to use a screwdriver to remove or attach the console base, you will still need to use a tool to access the memory expansion slot to install an M.2 SSD (check out the best SSDs for the PlayStation 5 here).

Slot for M.2 SSDs will be enabled soon in the next stable update

Sony plans to release in the next stable update for the PS5 the functionality of expanding the internal storage by installing an M.2 SSD in the console slot. The feature is currently only available to users of the PlayStation 5 firmware beta version, as is 3D audio support for the TV speaker.
