PUBG gets the new Arena Mode with update 8.3

The popular multiplayer game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, or PUBG, receives a new game mode in update 8.3 this Friday (18). The new Arena Mode will be available between the 18th and 21st and between the 25th and 28th of September in PUBG Labs on PC. On consoles, the availability of the new mode extends from September 25th to 28th and October 2nd to 5th.

In this new mode, up to 64 players are supported in team matches that are set in one of several separate zones in Erangel, Miramar or Sanhok. In Arena, the team must defeat up to two enemy squads to win. Upon winning, the squad will have to face enemies even stronger than those that were defeated. When there are three or fewer squads left, the match will start the Sudden Death Arena, where the winner takes the win, ignoring all scoring history so far.

A new menu has also been added just for this new mode, an interface that allows players to buy weapons, rather than finding them around the map, according to the rewards gained for eliminating their opponents. Downed allies can also be rescued faster, at around five seconds.

Update 8.3 will implement a raft system on the Erangel map, a new feature that prevents the player from taking damage from the blue zone. Other new features include two stages in Team Deathmatch mode for Sanhok and various game fixes. The new mode is available at PUBG Labs, which is the test version of the game where players can test new features before they are implemented in the global game and arrives this Friday (18) with patch 8.3.
