R6: Six Invitational 2021 is postponed by Ubisoft due to the pandemic

The Six Invitational 2021, Rainbow Six's biggest tournament, will no longer start on schedule. Scheduled to start next week, the event was officially postponed last Thursday (5th) by Ubisoft, the developer of Rainbow Six Siege.

The reason for the postponement is the Covid-19 pandemic. The problem, which has reached the whole world and continues to cause several changes and delays, still seems far from over. On January 29, Jean Castex, Prime Minister of France, announced the closing of the country's borders to any non-European Union traveller. The measure affected the transport of teams and event collaborators, causing the Six Invitational to have to be postponed.

Ubisoft stated that "due to server locations and to ensure maximum competitive integrity, we believe the world tournament can only take place if we bring all participating teams together in the same physical location."

Márcio Canosa, director of eSports and community at Ubisoft in Latin America, stated on Twitter that the team will not give up, ensuring that a new date will be revealed soon. Check out.

"As a result [of the measure taken by the French government] we had no choice but to postpone the Six Invitational 2021. While we are obviously disappointed that the tournament will not go ahead this month as planned, our focus is now on reassessing the situation. and look for alternatives."
