Rocket League will be free on September 23

Rocket League has now won a definitive date to go free for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on the Epic Games Store. On September 23, the game will transition to free-to-play, as announced in July.

Players will be able to access the game for free through Epic Games and will also have progress shared across platforms. That is, it will be possible to access the same account on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and all progress and items will remain.

All this comes with the new update that also brings changes to the tournament system and challenges. On September 23, in celebration of the game's transition to the free format, the Llama-Rama event also arrives, which should bring some relationship with Fortnite, but without further details revealed until then.

In addition, players who already own the game will receive a "Legacy" status, all previously released DLCs, a title with the year the player started playing, golden cosmos, Dieci-Oro wheels, and over 200 items .

On the same date as the event, Steam will stop offering Rocket League, which will become exclusive to Epic Games. However, Valve will continue to offer support for those who already had the Steam version of the game.

Rocket League is a vehicular football video game developed and published by Psyonix. The game was first released for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 in July 2015, with versions for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch being released later.

In June 2015, 505 Games began distributing a physical retail version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment taking over these roles in late 2017. Versions for macOS and Linux were also released in 2016, but support for their online services was dropped in 2020.
