Rockstar Games apologizes for GTA: The Trilogy and offers free games

After several complaints from Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, where several bugs and even visual problems were reported, Rockstar Games, the studio responsible for the games, apologized through a statement this weekend. In addition to admitting that it was wrong, to compensate for the discomfort of people who bought the title, the company is making the original version of the three games available for free (GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas).

The collection of remastered GTA titles "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition" was released in digital format on November 11, 2021 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X | S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PC. Its physical version will debut on December 6, 2021.

Issues reported in GTA: The Trilogy

In response to numerous complaints of issues with GTA: The Trilogy, Rockstar Games says:

"Updated versions of these classic games were not released in a state that met our own quality standards, or the standards our fans expect. We have ongoing plans to address technical issues and improve with each game going forward. With each update. planned, the games will reach the level of quality they deserve."

According to the studio, any purchaser who owns the new remastered trilogy of GTA will receive the original version of the games for free. This offer will remain until June 2022.

It is important to point out that the responsible for the remastering of the games was the Groove Street Games studio. However, Rockstar Games asked, in the same apology posted on its website, that players stop attacking the developers behind the game's remaster.

    Forecast for corrections

According to Rockstar Games, a new update for GTA: The Trilogy is just around the corner. According to the studio, this update should solve "a series of problems" that players are having.

The oldest title in Rockstar Games' trilogy of remastered titles is GTA III (2001), the first open world game in the franchise to use the Criterion Games graphics engine. Its plot begins with a bank robbery in the metropolis Liberty City, where Claude, the main character of the plot, receives a type from his girlfriend and accomplice, Catalina. Claude manages to survive, but is arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison, however when the police were transporting him in the van, he and 8-Ball manage to free themselves by accident after an attack on the authorities, managing to escape and hide in a place. From there, Claude works for several gangs with the objective of carrying out his personal revenge.

A year after releasing GTA III, Rockstar Games has brought you one of the most acclaimed titles in the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA: Vice City. The setting is based on Miami, although the city in the game is called "Vice City" and its story revolves around the character Tommy Vercetti. The title was originally released for PS2 and has now won its remastered version for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X | S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PC.

Last but not least, we have GTA: San Andreas, released in 2004, the seventh game in the franchise overall. The title was originally released for PS2, but later, in 2005, it was released for PC and Xbox. The story revolves around ex-gangster Carl "CJ" Johnson and is set in three major cities: Los Angeles (in-game: Los Santos), San Francisco (in-game: San Fierro) and Las Vegas (in-game: Las Venturas).

The three remastered classic GTA titles received texture improvements, as well as a better distance to view the scenery and improved controls for those adopted in GTA V. Something interesting to note, which brought a more current aspect to the games, was the implementation of Ray Tracing, in addition to a slight improvement in the graphics so as not to lose the originality of the works.
