    Shuhei Yoshida is no longer the director of Worldwide Studios

      Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced the entry of the co-founder of the Dutch studio Guerrilla Games, Hermen Hulst, to the post of director of SIE Worldwide Studios. His role will be to organize and lead the game development of the 14 studios of the Japanese company's game division.

      Jim Ryan, CEO and President of SIE said that:

      "Hermen is one of the most effective and respected leaders in the video game industry. He is a passionate advocate for the teams he leads and understands how to empower creative talent to build great experiences. Worldwide Studios is a critical part of the company's future success, and we must delivering on the promise we made to gamers to create imaginative and exciting content that is truly exclusive to PlayStation. I have no doubt that Hermen can lead our teams to deliver compelling and diverse experiences at a constant cadence."



      Hermen complemented Jim's lines by saying:

      "I have worked closely with PlayStation and the entire Worldwide Studios family since 2001, and have the utmost respect and admiration for the creative talent and ambitious ideas of the network of studios in the US, Europe and Japan. to lead such an inspired and talented team whose singular mission is to create amazing games for PlayStation fans."

      With Hermen joining, Shuhei Yoshida, who previously held the presidency of SIE Worldwide Studios, will step down to become head of a newly created independent game developer initiative. Shuhei will report directly to Jim to ensure that game creation by indie studios has the tools, technology and services needed to produce games that appeal to the Playstation user community.



      SIE CEO Jim says a few words about Shuhei's entry into the indie studio division:

      "I'm thrilled to announce Shu Yoshida as head of this new initiative. Everyone knows how passionate Shu is about indie games - they are the lifeblood of the industry, making our content portfolio so special to our gamers. These wildly creative experiences deserve focus and a champion like Shu at PlayStation, who will ensure the entire SIE organization works together to better engage with independent developers through a culture of support and celebration of their contributions to PlayStation platforms."

      Hermen also says on the social network Twiiter that:

      "I'm super excited about Shuhei Yoshida in his new role. I couldn't think of a better champion for indie game developers with his encyclopedic gaming knowledge and a network unmatched in the industry. We love you Shu!!!"
