Sony already knew? New God of War is delayed to 2022!

The next God of War has been delayed to 2022. Announced during a PlayStation Showcase in September last year, the title had been promised for 2021, but now Sony has said that fans will have to wait a little longer.

A possible postponement of the new God of War was already a much talked about subject among players, becoming more and more real as the months passed without news about the title being released.

New God of War delayed to 2022

Now, the "dream is truly over". The next leg of Kratos' journey will not be available this year, as previously announced. Hermen Hulst, member of PlayStation Studios, confirmed the game's delay in a PS Blog post.

Also citing the development of Horizon Forbidden West, Hulst stated that the team has chosen to delay the new God of War so that Santa Monica can "deliver the amazing game that is the God of War we all want to play".

We are currently developing two major narrative-driven games: Horizon Forbidden West and the upcoming God of War. And in both cases, teams are impacted in terms of access to capture performance and talent. In the case of Horizon, I think we're on schedule to release over the holidays. But it's not guaranteed yet, and we're working hard to confirm that for you as soon as possible. And as for God of War, the project was started a little later. So we made the decision to delay this game until next year to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing game that is God of War that we all want to play. In these cases, something has to give. That something can't be the quality of our titles, and it certainly won't be the health or well-being of our incredible team."

Santa Monica Studio also commented on the postponement, stating that will deliver a high quality game. Check out.

"Since the release of the teaser for the upcoming God of War last year, we have been very moved by the amount of love our community has shown us. We are extremely grateful to see so many people excited to experience the next chapter of Kratos and Atreus' journey.

We remain focused on delivering a high quality game while maintaining the safety and well-being of our team, creative partners and families. With that in mind, we've made the decision to move our release window to 2022.

Thank you all for your continued support, we have some exciting things in the works that we can't wait to show you guys!"

Many players already expected a postponement of the new title of the franchise, with many even believing that Sony always knew the game wouldn't be released in 2021, announcing the game for this year only with the intention of boosting PlayStation 5 sales.

Despite the delay, good news for many players also appeared in the publication of Hermen Hulst.

The PlayStation Studios leader stated that the new Kratos game will also be released for the PlayStation 4, in addition to saying that Gran Turismo 7 will follow the same path.

"When it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5, whether it's Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War or GT7, we'll keep doing that. And if PS4 owners want to play the game in question, they can. play the PS5 version, it will also be available"
