Sony files patent for VR/AR headsets with sensors and haptic feedback

Although PlayStation VR doesn't appear much on the market, it is always gaining titles for users to enjoy on their PS4. Sony believes in the product and intends to release a new VR for the PlayStation 5, however, in the meantime, the company is focusing on the compatibility of the current PSVR with the PS5.

Sony is still working on the project to improve VR/RA headsets. Recently a patent application was located by the website LetsGoDigital, where you can see the company's effort to make a device that allows the user to comfortably use headphones.

One of the possible approaches is the use of pressure sensors or strain gauges, a camera and image recognition. A simpler but functional possibility that this patent allows is to turn off the headset (if it is wireless Bluetooth) when not using it. In addition, there may be sensors to let you know if the headset is being used correctly and if the fit is correct, in order to obtain a good sound experience and comfort.

The headset described in the patent will feature haptic feedback and LEDs. The reason for this is probably to pair with the PS5 controller, the DualSense.

Note in the patent images that the devices are eyeglass-like. In 2019, Sony even revealed a holographic screen called the SED-100A, capable of superimposing images in the real world and was developed for use in the professional environment.
