    Sony Makes 9 PS4 Games Free, No PS Plus Needed

    This weekend Sony made nine free games available to all PS4 players as part of the "Play at Home" program. These are not exclusive games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, they are titles that are literally for all PlayStation 4 users. However, pay attention to the dates, as they will be available for a limited time, more specifically until April 22 at midnight.

    It is important to note that in addition to the games being made available for free by PlayStation, Ratchet & Clank is available for free download until March 31 (Wednesday). Additionally, on April 19th, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will also be released as a free game without any restrictions.



    About Play at Home

    The program called "Play at Home" was created by Sony to encourage PlayStation gamers to stay in their homes during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The initiative started last year and in 2021 the company brought even more titles.

    Subnautica

    Released in early 2018, Subnautica was developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment. Initially the game was released for PC (Windows macOS), but at the end of the same year it debuted, the title also came out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is a survival action-adventure game where players can explore the ocean (open world format) on an alien planet known as Plan 454B.

    In the plot, the character ends up in the sea of ​​the planet 454B due to the crash of his spaceship (Aurora) on the surface. The player must collect resources and face creatures to survive.



    Astro Bot Rescue Mission

    Released in late 2018, Astro Bot Rescue Mission was developed by Japan Studio (Asobi team). The game was developed for the PlayStation 4 used in conjunction with the PlayStation VR (PS VR). In the game, the player controls Captain Astro and aims to rescue his lost crew, going through 5 worlds and 20 levels.

    The player will have to rescue 213 robots using PlayStation VR, which will offer a great immersion with the use of virtual reality.

    Released in early 2016, The Witness was developed and distributed by Thekla. Initially, the studio's plan was to release the title for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but the idea was eventually abandoned due to the evolution of the game's graphics engine making it more demanding. Then in January 2016 The Witness was released for PS4 and PC (Windows).

    The Witness is a puzzle game where the player explores an open world island solving mysteries through interactions where it will be necessary to identify the meaning of the symbols in the puzzles.

    Abzu

    Released in late 2016, Abzû was developed by Giant Squid Studios and published by 505 Games. Its development took three years and was initially available for PlayStation 4 and PC (Windows). It is an adventure game, where the player controls a diver who explores the ocean and aims to restore life in the ocean using sonar.

    In Abzû the player will explore open sea environments, as well as natural caves and ancient ruins. The setting and story of the game was based on Sumerian mythology and the myth of the cosmic ocean.



    Enter the Gungeon

    Released in early 2016, Enter the Gungeon was developed by Dodge Roll. Initially the game was released for PlayStation 4 and PC (Windows, OS X and Linux), but later it was also made available for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Stadia. In the game, players will accompany four characters who descend to the titular Gungeon, a dungeon of firearms, with the objective of finding a time machine to end their past.

    Enter the Gungeon has stages where players fight enemies and acquire new weapons, items with unique abilities and effects. The title belongs to the bullet hell shooter genre, a type of fast-paced shooter that has roguelinke elements, similar to The Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne.

    Rez Infinite

    Released in 2016, Rez Infinite was developed by Enhance Games for PS4. It is a musical shooter game that was originally released for Dreamcast and PlayStation 2. Inspired by European disco music, the first version of the game began to be produced in 1999 by Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

    Released in early 2018, Moss was developed and published by Polyarc. Initially, the game was only released for PlayStation 4, but four months later it debuted on PC (Windows). It is a virtual reality game focused on solving puzzles.

    Thumper

    Released in late 2016, Thumper was developed and published by Drool. Initially the game was released for PS4 and PC (Windows) with the option to use PS VR, but later it came out for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS, Android and Stadia. The player's objective is to guide a beetle-like creature through various worlds, pressing the right button to hit the lit "notes" on the track so that it is in sync with the background music.

    Released in mid-2020, Paper Beast was developed and published by Pixel Reef. The game was released for PlayStation 4 and PC (Windows) and uses virtual reality to make the player have a greater immersion. Players will have to navigate through a world inhabited by various digital lifeforms that emerged from the lost codes and algorithms of the internet.

    Paper Beast is an adventure game in which the player has a first-person perspective. In the game, players control an explorer who aims to navigate the world rescuing wildlife from dangers and predators.
