To help gamers around the world who are suffering from the Coronavirus outbreaks in their cities and consequently are in their homes in a forced quarantine, Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive, today introduced the Play At Home initiative.
According to the text published on the Playstation Spain Blog, Play at Home consists of two components:
"First, offering free games to keep the PlayStation community entertained at home; second, creating a fund to help smaller independent studios that may be struggling financially to continue to create experiences for all gamers."
The initiative has benefits such as acquiring for free part of the collection of the famous game developed by the studio Naughty Dog, Uncharted (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception). In addition, PS4 players will also be able to download one of the most critically acclaimed games, Journey, which was developed by Thatgamecompany studio.

"We couldn't imagine a better time to explore the world with Nathan Drake, an iconic cast of characters and gameplay full of action, adventure and treasure hunting."
Then he talks about Journey:
"The life-affirming message the game brings is timeless, and perhaps more important now than ever before."
In addition to making the aforementioned games available for free, Sony stated that it has organized a $10 million fund to support the development of Indie games. According to Jim:
"Independent developers are an essential part of the heart and soul of the gaming community, and we understand that many are struggling financially."
The company said it will soon provide more information about the fund, such as participation criteria and application dates.

"During this time of social distancing, our fans have been using games as a way to rest and enjoy. At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we are privileged to bring this much-needed entertainment."
Availability of free games
Games will be available for download via PSN starting April 16, 2020 at 00:5 am. Players will have until the 2020th of May 23 at 59:XNUMX to download. After downloading, the games will be permanently owned by the player.
