Twitch is testing "multiplayer ads" for streamers to make money

    Twitch is testing

Recently the game streaming platform, Twitch, is starting tests to implement a new advertising tool, "multiplayer ads". This feature will allow streamers to activate advertisements for viewers to watch, however, these advertisements will not be targeted as is currently done.

A Twitch spokesperson said via email:

"In the true spirit of Twitch - we want our creators and fans to have the opportunity to experience everything together and support their favorite creators along the way."

In 2020, Twitch has made several changes related to ads on its website. In the months from September to November, the platform, in addition to having non-skippable ads, started using a tool to block ad blockers.

Multiplayer advertisements will be interesting, because currently many are not satisfied with advertisements made on Twitch. Current ads are intrusive and do not provide any benefit to creators, but now, with this new feature, content creators will earn a fee for them and will have some incentive to show them during the broadcast. According to a Twitch spokesperson, multiplayer ad bit payments will be part of traditional CPMs, meaning the display of these ads will pay twice.

    Twitch and Advertising Ads

In the end, even with so many changes, one thing is for sure, Twitch is trying to get a good solution for ads on its platform. Hopefully, cross-platform ads will give content creators an added incentive to do a good job.
