Valorant has the biggest free launch in PC gaming history

According to an analysis by company SuperData, Riot's newest first-person shooter (FPS) game, Valorant, had the biggest free launch in PC gaming history.

A few weeks after Valorant's debut, the game stole the attention of Overwatch and other multiplayer first-person shooters. The title attracted good players and, most importantly, a large income through microtransactions (with skin packs reaching US$100). The game is exceeding expectations compared to previous games like Apex Legends on PC.

According to Superdata, Valorant is being able to drive away CS:GO players, due to a new FPS system designed with a focus on enthusiasts, in addition to, of course, influencers (influencers), streamers and new professional eSports leagues. The game came to be among the 10 games with the best earnings for PC in the month of June.

Game revenue and player numbers put it ahead of what the PC version of Apex Legends achieved in February 2019 However, Apex Legends earned more at launch due to its console version. Valorant also earned more than its closest competitor Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in June, despite Valve's title having a somewhat CS:GO user numbers and revenue also dropped for the second month in a row in June, indicating that Valorant is sidetracking players."
