The Xbox app for Windows PCs finally allows the user to install games to any folder on the computer. Microsoft began testing this new feature in 2021 and is now making it available to everyone on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
With the new Xbox app update on Windows 10 and Windows 11, the player will be able to install games in any folder they want and will still have unrestricted access to the title files. This update should resolve many issues with installing Game Pass games, as well as allowing the user to back up game files to restore them in the future.

Like it was before
Previously, the Xbox app for Windows only allowed you to install games in a folder called "WindowsApps" located at the root of the system. Although it was allowed to use additional storage units, it was not possible to install the games in a folder chosen by the player or move the files freely.
No need to reinstall existing titles
When performing the Xbox app update, it will not be necessary for the user to reinstall their games. The only thing you will need to do is right click on the app, select to manage and enable the new game installation and management feature. In this way, any other game that is installed in the future, it will be possible to choose in which folder the game files will be saved.
Launch and availability
The new Xbox app feature for Windows 10 and Windows 11 is now available by updating the app. Just open the Microsoft Store and perform the update procedure.
