Xbox Beta Lets You Remotely Play Your Xbox One Games on Your Smartphone

Xbox Beta Lets You Remotely Play Your Xbox One Games on Your Smartphone

Microsoft today released a new Xbox beta app that introduces a host of new features and also opens up Xbox Remote Play to everyone. Formerly known as Xbox Console Streaming, the feature is no longer exclusive to Xbox Insiders and can now be used by anyone who has an Xbox One console and the new Xbox beta app installed on their smartphone or tablet.

Xbox Remote Play allows you to play all games downloaded on your console for free directly on your Android smartphone or tablet. Games that you can play remotely on your smartphone also include tiles in the Xbox Game Pass library.

However, Xbox Remote Play is different from the game streaming service xCloud. For Xbox Remote Play to work, you must have an Xbox One console and a compatible controller to remotely play the games installed on your console.

As for the xCloud service, you don't need an Xbox console. All you need is an Xbox Game Pass membership and a compatible smartphone on which you can stream any game currently in your library.

All processing happens in the cloud on Microsoft's own servers, so you don't have to worry about performance bottlenecks. You can download the new Xbox beta app from the Play Store here.

In addition to bringing Xbox Remote Play to all Xbox One owners, the new Xbox beta app now allows users to simultaneously log in to as many Xbox consoles as they wish. However, you will only be able to play on one device at a time so that in-game progress and achievements are synced across all devices.

In addition, the app will act as a remote control that will allow users to install new games on their consoles, delete older ones to free up storage space, and of course, enjoy the benefits of Xbox Remote Play.
