Xbox Game Pass Games of the Month Revealed: DayZ, Red Dead II, FF IX, and Fractured Minds

Microsoft recently announced the arrival of "free" titles for the month of May for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. In all, there are 4 titles that players will receive "for free". Red Dead Redemption 2 and DayZ arrive today, while Final Fantasy IX and Fractured Minds will be available in the next two weeks.

What is Xbox Game Pass

It is a subscription service made available to Xbox One, PC (Windows 10) and mobile devices with the app. Platform users have unlimited access to more than 100 console or PC games with lots of new games added all the time, as well as exclusive member discounts and promotions. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes Xbox Live Gold, Microsoft's service for online gaming.

DayZ (7th of May)

Developed by studio Bohemia Interactive, DayZ was originally released in 2018 for PC. A year later, in 2019, the game was released for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Its plot takes place in the fictional post-Soviet Republic of Chernarus, where a plague arises that turns the population into violent "infected" creatures. The player controls a survivor, whose objective is to explore the world and search for resources such as food, water, weapons and medicine, in order to survive the outbreak.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (7 de maio)

Red Dead Redemption II centers around Arthur Morgan, the main outlaw character of a gang called the Van der Linde. The game features 60 hours of pure action in the midst of shootings, horseback riding, robberies, hunting, among many other things related to the world of the Wild West.

The game brings a refinement of several mechanics in relation to its predecessor, improving combat, weapon handling, the honor system, among other points. A point that drew attention, within its novelties, was the possibility of carrying two weapons at the same time and other activities such as swimming.

Final Fantasy IX (May 14)

Developed by the Square Enix studio, Final Fantasy IX was originally released in 2000 for the Playstation 1. The new game in the famous Final Fantasy series revolves around a war between nations during medieval times in a world called Gaia. In the game, the player aims to rescue Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII from the villain Zidane Tribal. He ends up teaming up with Garnet and several characters to try to overthrow the queen, Brahne of Alexandria, who is responsible for starting the war.

Fractured Minds (19 de maio)

Developed by Emily Mitchell and published by Wired Productions, Fractured Minds is a puzzle game that was released in 2017 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, iOS and Nintendo Switch platforms. In the game, the player controls an unnamed character and goes through six dark chapters, where each one will have a different challenge that is associated with some mental illness such as isolation, paranoia and anxiety. While it may seem commonplace and routine in real life, the title shows such problems in a way that makes them unsettling.

80% of Fractured Minds sales go to Safe in Our World, a video game charity group that supports World Mental Health Day and provides a range of services for those in need of help with a mental illness.
