xCloud will make Xbox Series X games available for Xbox One

Microsoft recently stated that Xbox One console owners will be able to play next-gen titles through the xCloud game streaming service. The information came through a post on the Xbox News blog, which recaps the Xbox + Bethesda showcase, where Microsoft's plans to leverage xCloud on Xbox One consoles are confirmed. That is, players will soon be able to run Xbox Series X exclusive games on Xbox One, which has 2013 hardware.

Xbox Wire editor-in-chief Will Tuttle says:

"For the millions of people playing on Xbox One consoles today, we look forward to sharing more about how we're going to bring many of these next-gen games, like Microsoft Flight Simulator, to your console through Xbox Cloud Gaming, just as we do. with mobile devices, tablets and browsers."

Microsoft initially released xCloud as a way to experience games

So far, Microsoft has described the game streaming service xCloud as a way for gamers to "try [games] before downloading", but clearly the company intends to go much further than that. Originally, Microsoft had announced Flight Simulator as a title that would be released for Xbox One, but the company ended up removing references from the console in December of last year. Now, Microsoft recently confirmed that it will release Flight Simulator for Xbox Series X/S on July 27, 2021.

    Launch and availability

Exactly when xCloud will be available for Xbox One video games remains to be seen. It is believed that the implementation will not take place next month so that players who own the console have access to Flight Simulator. However, Microsoft's head of cloud gaming, Kareem, has previously said that xCloud would be integrated into consoles "later this year".
