When we think something will never happen, we are sorely mistaken. A young game addict named Casey Viner, 19, filed a complaint with SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) causing the death of a man in the state of Kansas. According to NBC news, the boy was nervous about a $1,50 bet he lost while playing Call of Dutty: WWII.
Because of Casey's lack of control, he contacted friend Tyler R. Barriss to "swatt" a game challenger named Shane Gaskill, a 20-year-old citizen of Wichita. However, he only obtained the person's old address, and ended up citing a random address nearby to SWAT. After that, Andrew Finch, 28, had his home invaded and was killed by a squad agent.
In the face of what happened, Casey was sentenced to 15 months in prison and to stay 2 years without engaging in any activity involving games. Shane Gaskill was also found guilty, as he was complicit in providing his old address to Viner. Furthermore, Shane even teased Viner to try something at his house.
