50% of gamers download games from unofficial sources

In celebration of World Games Day (29), the security company ESET applied a survey using the audience of Latin American gamers as a sample. In the questionnaire, there were questions about the behavior that the player had in relation to his digital security when playing a game.

The result of the survey carried out with the gamer public, according to the sample of the population studied, showed that 87% believe that downloading games and files through unofficial sources is risky. Even with this percentage, 56% of respondents said they had already acquired games illegally. However, this came at a cost, which was reflected in 30% of people reporting already having their devices infected at some point by "downloading" game files or (unofficial) modifications to the game.

Also in the survey it was discovered that half of the individuals interviewed would accept to pay a ransom if their account (profile, profile) is stolen. In addition, 5% of the group interviewed admitted to having their bank information or profile credentials exposed by people of bad nature.

      • Minimum requirements to play PUBG on PC
That is, it is better to think twice before refusing to pay for a game without knowing the risks involved in illegally downloading the file. In addition, we still have the fact that you will not support/encourage the studio that created the game with this attitude and consequently will harm you, even if indirectly.
