The new Android is about to arrive. Google is expected to reveal the news in less than a month. For Android P, many new features are planned and, of course, we are looking forward to seeing them all.
Regarding the navigation keys, which have always been present at the bottom of the screen, whether in capacitive buttons on the body or on the device's display itself, in Android 9 there may be some change in relation to this.
According to a recent screenshot published on the Android Developers Blog, the company intends to modify the system's navigation bar to adhere to gestures, however, not on all smartphones.

- Android P should have facial recognition support
The bar in question is quite similar to the one seen on the iPhone and so it could indicate that Android 9 may adopt a gestural interface for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, Google's own smartphones.
At first, we have to take into account that it's all just a rumor, since Google hasn't confirmed anything yet. However, the possibility exists, mainly because Apple has already introduced the feature on its iPhone, and apparently, it has pleased users. That way, nothing unusual that the competition also wants to use something similar.
It is worth mentioning that Google I/O is scheduled to take place from the 8th to the 10th of May. The expectation is that Google will present news regarding Android 9, as well as company applications, augmented reality and even something in relation to Fuchsia OS, the likely replacement of Android.
