Assassin's Creed Valhalla will have world events instead of side missions

The Assassin's Creed series has always had side quests for players to complete throughout the main story. This type of mission has become more present especially in the latest titles in the franchise such as Origins and Odyssey. In the case of the latter, it can take more than 100 hours to complete all the missions and this was one of the biggest criticisms leveled at the title. With that in mind, according to the developers, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will have almost no side quests and will focus on "world events".

In an interview with Gamespot, Valhalla narrative director Darby McDevitt says:

""world events" are included in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but the traditional side quest is "almost non-existent."

According to the developers, this different approach to the quests was chosen with the narrative in mind, as the main character, Eivor, arrives in England as an invader. Having too many quests right from the start would make no sense, as there would still be no alliances.

It remains to be seen whether this reduction in missions will result in a considerably smaller game. That is, we can only wait for more information about the game or its release.

    Availability and release

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be released on November 17th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms. In addition to these, the title will also arrive for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X, but the exact date on which they will debut is not yet known.

    About Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed is an open world game and is played in third person, where the user controls a character that is part of a long line of assassins. The different versions of the game take place at different points in history, bringing action and culture at the same time.

First released in 2007 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, Assassin's Creed is already in its eleventh title. Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the last title to leave the franchise, performed well compared to its predecessor, Assassin's Creed Origins. Its plot takes place in Ancient Greece and has impressive art.
