    The year 2017 was full for Google, with several launches both in the areas it already operates, as well as in the entry into new branches. They ranged from apps, to improvements in online services and hardware releases. Well, it was a year with a lot of good things and some not so much, but without further ado, let's go to the list of news that Google brought in 2017.

    Android Oreo

The search engine for Android now waits until the internet is able to restore itself and notifies you as soon as the search is complete, so you don't have to wait for the search with the window open, or even have to search again if during the first search the connection has dropped.



    Google Arts & Culture

    This initiative wasn't necessarily launched in 2017, but it was this year that Google brought it to the "We Wear Culture" project, which brings more than 3 years of fashion to the platform. There are more than 450 virtual exhibitions, where the user can get to know the whole story behind the clothes we wear today. The São Paulo Museum of Art, together with the Chamber of Deputies, also announced the availability of items from the institutions' collections on Google Arts & Culture.

    After a long wait, Google released the Assistant here. The tool was already available in other countries and languages, but here we only had access to Google Now on Android. Google Assistant works natively on smartphones that have Android 5.0 Lollipop, 6.0 Marshmallow, 7.0 Nougat and 8.0 Oreo, the personal assistant even works on iPhones, iPads and iPods Touch, through a specific application for iOS.

    Google Maps has been around for years, but in 2017 the app got a new face, the GPS navigation functions and the option to explore specific locations have improved a lot. The app also started showing real-time information and the availability of parking spaces.

    The history of Google Just like Maps, Google Earth also gained attention this year, with a new face, now the Google tool brings an improved experience, both in the web and Android versions. Now it's easier to explore exotic locations, share and learn about the world. The new version highlights the features "Viajante", "I'm lucky" and "This is home", in addition to the "Eu Sou Amazônia", a project that brings fascinating stories from the Amazon region and also an atlas of indigenous lands in Spain , all within Google Earth.

Along with the launch of Android Go in India, Google also released some apps for common download, they are tools like Files Go and Datally, the first one is aimed at saving internal space and RAM for more basic smartphones, since the second helps to save data on the mobile internet package.

    Waiting time on Maps and Search

    Now whenever you search for restaurants on Google Maps, or directly in Google search, you can see how long more or less you will have to wait to be served or to receive your dishes. This tool also applies to some bars and similar establishments. Implemented in 2017, it already has more than 1 million places registered and that inform the waiting time and times when there is more movement in the place.

    Google also launched the Pixel 2017 and Pixel 2XL smartphones in 2, in addition to the Google Home and Pixel Buds, but none of these products arrived here in Spain.
