Chrome OS gets a new look and Android integration in celebration of 10 years

In celebration of 10 years since its first Chromebook was released, Google is releasing a major update to the Chrome OS system, providing greater integration between the other devices in the company's ecosystem such as remote monitoring, as well as generous functionality for its users.

Chrome OS 89 is slowly being rolled out to users and should soon be available in all regions where it is sold. To update you don't need to click on anything, it is done automatically, as soon as it is available for the device in question, and taking effect after your next reboot.

    Chrome OS 89 Features

The Phone Hub is a feature that basically reserves an area within the system to control functions that are normally done by a smartphone, such as reading and sending text messages, activating the silent mode of the device, or even listing the tabs opened by Chrome. of the cell phone.

Another interesting feature is the possibility of recording everything that happens on the screen natively, that is, an exclusive function of the system that can be activated at any time, in addition to having a simple menu for adjustments at the time of recording. In this area where you can find the icon with the recording function, we can also find new media controls that run on Android or Chrome.

With the Wi-Fi Sync system it is possible to connect the Chromebook to networks known by the Android smartphone, without having to enter the password again. This ensures tighter integration between devices and works in basically the same way as Apple products with iOS and macOS systems.

The Nearby Share function was also introduced to share files between users in a simplified way, in addition to a new menu to paste copied items, being possible to save the last five contents for greater agility to find the relevant information for each destination. If you right-click on a word, the system can suggest quick answers such as currency conversion, word definition, or language translation.

The changelog even talks about the system behavior on restart that restores all tabs automatically, plus new apps coming and a text converter that can be changed to narration speed.
