Most efficient way to get trophies

Step 1: Play the story and always steal all human bodies

The first step is to play the Days Gone story on any difficulty. All trophies can be earned on easy difficulty. The story consists of 6 regions and takes around 60 hours to complete. Keep in mind that it's a very long game, so you're going to need quite a bit of dedication.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Along the way, you must complete all Camp Jobs (side quests in friendly camps) and complete Ambush Camps, Infestations, and Nero Checkpoints in all regions (Side Activities).

Even though these activities are still possible after the story, it makes more sense to do them right away, as this will unlock some useful rewards.

    • Camp jobs: Boost your confidence with camps (better weapons and motorcycle upgrades for sale);
    • Ambush Camps: Reveals more of the map, unlocks crafting recipes, and reveals certain collectibles on the map;
    • Infestations: Unlocks new fast travel routes;
    • Nero Checkpoints: They are quick travel points and give upgrades to your health, stamina, focus.

Don't obsess over getting level 3 trust with all fields still at that point. Reaching level 2 is good enough during the story. The remaining trust is more quickly cultivated after the story, killing all the Hordes.

Hordes are automatically marked on the map after the story. During history, this would be very difficult. It doesn't matter which field you provide your rewards in as they add minimal trust anyway.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

During the story, you will also receive many Collectibles automatically, as a large part comes from automatic quest rewards and cannot be missed. As you only need 75% of the collectibles for all trophies, which will be collected after the story in Free-Roam mode.

What you really want to keep an eye on is the trophy"you have red in you“, which consists of collecting 541 items from human corpses. Items can only be collected from human corpses (not from Freakers). There are far fewer humans in the game than Freakers, but luckily enough to get that by the end of the story if you always loot them.

If you ignore this, it will be really tedious to find humans after the story in the wild, because they rarely appear outside of quests. Also, if your inventory is full, it will not add loot items (counts only when you have an item from a body).

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

When you encounter humans, always remember to get rid of all crafting materials and consumables in your inventory by using them. So you can even find 2-3 items per corpse. Since you can loot multiple items per corpse, you don't even need the 541 total kills.

During the story, the game will warn you twice about points of no return (it will give you a warning on the screen, you can't miss it). The first is at the end of the 3rd region “Lost Lake”. The second is at the end of the 5th region “Crater Lake”. What the game forgets to say is that these are only TEMPORARY and you can go back to all regions after the story.

So don't worry if you missed something. Just finish the story and all the fields will still be there. The only things that can be missed are 5 of Colonel Garret's Speeches (collectible type) in the Crater Lake region, but this does not affect trophies (only 75% collectibles are required).

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

You can still do all trophies after the story, there is nothing related to trophies (all camps, confidence level 3, 75% collectibles, camp jobs, side activities, upgrades, etc.). Be aware that you are temporarily locked out of the first three regions until the end of the game, but then you can return.

Step 2: Trust Level 3 with three different camps and 45 skills

If you followed the advice from step 1 and did all Camp Jobs and Side Activities during the Days Gone story, you should be close to confidence level 3 with all camps. Also, you should also have between 40 and 42 skill points if you've done everything so far.

What you'll want to do is kill all the Hordes in a given region for the last Confidence and Ability points you need. Hordes are significantly easier after the story because you will have a lot of upgrades, skills and better weapons.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

All of them are marked on the map automatically at the end of the story, so they are easier to locate. Kill as many as you need to hit 45 Skill Points and Confidence Level 3 should come naturally with 3 out of 5 camps along the way.

Step 3: Collectibles and remaining trophies

Now that the Days Gone story is over, you will automatically receive many Collectibles. In fact, 2 collectible categories are fully automatic from story progression and cannot be missed (Radio Free Oregon, Lab Notes).

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

You may still be missing out on some miscellaneous trophies such as “Apocalypse Combustion”, so grab these quickly and the Days Gone platinum is yours!

One drop: Defeat your first Horde

Automatic story-related trophy, can't be missed. You will get this automatically during a story mission at the end of Crater Lake (5th region). If you die too often in this mission, the game lets you skip this game section, which automatically kills the entire Horde and gives you a free trophy.

Of course, you can also kill a Horde yourself at the beginning of the game, but this is more difficult. They are the great mobs of Freakers that are running together. During the day they sleep in caves and at night they walk through all regions.

The best way to kill them is with explosives, and when only a few remain, you can finish off their firearms. Having saddlebags installed on your bike is great as it allows you to take backup ammo into the fight.

All Hordes are automatically marked on the world map at the end of the story!

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Farewell Drift: Accumulate 10 minutes of drifting while on your bike

There is a very easy way to do this in Days Gone: while your bike is still stationary, press “circle” + “stick left” + “R2”. This will make your bike spin in a circle. Make sure the front wheel stays locked as you do this.

The video below shows this method in action. You can't be driving in a circle for this, only one "donut" counts, so the front wheel must be locked in place.

It's best to do this at a fuel station so you can refill the tank. The best place is at the O'Leary Mountain Safehouse (Boozer Tower). There's a fuel station over there and it's a safe area where no Freaker can get to you. Drive on a donut until the fuel runs out, refill the fuel, repeat.

You can track your time in Storylines > Trophies > Farewell Drift.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

This is a knife: Kill a Breaker, Reacher or Rager with a knife

Breakers are huge muscular Freakers that love to kick your ass. Reachers are the most agile Freakers, they like to dodge and hide and have a little hair on their back (not to be confused with Runners). Lastly, Ragers are infected bears that have more health than normal bears and have a blade sticking out.

You find all 3 types of enemies in free-roam mode in the 5th region “Crater Lake” and the 6th region “Highway 97”. After the story, they will appear in all other regions as well.

The best and easiest way to get this trophy early is during the main story in the “Playing All Night” quest. It's your first time visiting the 4th Region, Iron Butte. There you will fight a single Breaker (a must). What's great about this point is that it shows the monster's health, whereas in free mode it doesn't. Try to get the trophy in this opportunity.

You can weaken the enemy with other weapons first. Only the final blow should be from Deacon's knife. This is the standard knife you always carry with you.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Goodbye Ghost: Get 100 kills via stealth

You must approach an enemy from behind a pressure triangle for a stealth kill. Do this 100 times in total. You don't even need to sneak around for this, you can just run into the enemy from behind. As long as they haven't already entered combat (even if they heard you), this will allow you to do the stealth removal.

At night you will find Freakers all over the world, or you can do it in ambush camps where many human enemies are encountered. Do this as you progress through the game and don't worry too much about it, there are endless opportunities for Stealth Kills.

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > Ghost of Farewell.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Reliable: Kill 200 enemies with a crafted weapon

The only weapons you can craft in Days Gone are melee weapons and explosives. The best way to get this trophy is with melee weapons. You earn crafting recipes by completing Ambush Camps. The first camp is part of a starter quest and gives you the recipe for the “Spiky Taco” (a must). Requires a stick, nails and scrap to craft.

Remember to acquire the “Field Repairs” field skill as soon as possible. This allows you to repair your weapon with scrap at any time, which you find when looting car engines. When your melee weapon is close to its breaking point, repair it with scrap. It is faster than creating it again and allows you to accumulate many destroyed weapons quickly.

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > Old Reliable.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Variety is the pepper of life: Kill an enemy with all kinds of crossbows

There are 5 types of crossbow arrows in Days Gone. Kill any enemy (eg Freaker) with each of them. The Beast is automatically unlocked from the start. You unlock all types of arrows in Story Missions and Ambush Camps.

    • Beast Arrow – automatically unlocked from the start of the game (Materials: 1 x Cedar Shoot, 1 x Scrap)
    • Residual Arrow – Automatically unlocked from Story Quest “They're Not Sleeping” in the “Finding Nero” line (Materials: 1 x Cedar Shoot, 1 x Nest Residue, 1 x Scrap Metal)
    • Poison Arrow – automatically unlocked from the Story Quest “I've Got a Plan” in the “I'll never give up” line (Materials: 1 x Cedar Shoot, 1 x Poison, 1 x Scrap Metal).
    • Incendiary Arrow – Unlocked after conquering 8 Ambush Camps (Materials: 1 x Cedar Shoot, 1 x Cloth, 1 x Kerosene, 1 x Scrap Metal).
    • Explosive Arrow – Unlocked after conquering 12 Ambush Camps (Materials: 1 x Cedar Shoot, 1 x Ignition Spark, 1 x Gunpowder, 1 x Scrap Metal).

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > Variety is the Spice of Life.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Goodbye Original: Buy an upgrade under the Performance, Visual and Paint categories for your bike

You can do this at the first camp “Copeland's Camp”. Mechanic sells Bike Upgrades and Customizations. There are 3 categories: Performance, Visual, Paint. Purchase 1 upgrade in each category to unlock this trophy. You can go with the cheaper options.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

First-time buyer: Upgrade your motorcycle for the first time

Self-explanatory trophy. Eventually you'll get this trophy, as upgrading your bike at least once is essential during the game's campaign.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Apocalypse combustion: Use nitro and drift at the same time on your bike for at least 5 seconds

This trophy requires the Nitrous 3 upgrade for your bike. The Nitrous 2 update will not work because the boost only lasts for 4,5 seconds. Nitrous 3 update lasts longer than 6 seconds.

Step 1: Purchase Nitrous 3 Upgrade from 4th Camp “Diamond Lake” in Crater Lake Region. This requires you to reach Trust Level 3 with this camp first. Do all Story Quests and Camp Jobs there (side quests) and then kill all Hordes in the Highway 97 region.

Step 2: Once you have the Nitrous 3 upgrade you can get the trophy. You should move in a big circle, accelerating a little. Then hold "analog right" + "R2" + "circle" + "x". This will take some practice. It may take an hour of trial and error before it unlocks. Watch the video below for an easy place to do this.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

The Art of Bicycle Repair: Apply 100 scraps to your motorcycle

Scrap is used to repair your bike in Days Gone. Crashing your bike, doing jumps or driving through water will damage it. Therefore, it needs constant repairs. Scrap metal is found everywhere, but the quickest way is to steal it from car engines. This trophy will come naturally as you play through the story, don't worry about it.

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > The Art of Bike Repair.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Do you have red in you: Collect 541 items from corpses

This is the only Days Gone trophy you really want to watch out for from the start! Items can only be collected from human corpses (not from Freakers). There are far fewer humans in the game than Freakers, but luckily enough to get that by the end of the story if you always loot them. To loot a corpse, walk over it and hold.

You'll encounter humans in story missions, camp jobs, and ambush camps. In the open world, spawns are rare (especially at gas stations).

Only real LOOTED items count. So if your inventory is full and you can't loot anything from a body, it won't add anything to progress. What's great is that most humans drop multiple items and count them all. So you can get 3 items from a single corpse.

Always use your crafting materials, health items, health items when you come across large groups of humans. Then your inventory will be empty and you will be able to collect many items from corpses.

If you're not careful with this (i.e. never loot bodies or always have a full inventory) you can fall short. After all Quests and Ambush Camps are over, it would be a very long task to get humans to spawn in the open world.

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > You Got Red on You.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Lend me your ears: Collect 989 Freakers Ears

Every Freaker you kill drops an ear. Simply walk over. This will happen automatically on the way to platinum because you have to kill a lot of hordes to get past the last skill points.

The largest hordes of the 5th and 6th region contain hundreds of Freakers. So killing 3-4 hordes in late game regions will give you more than enough ears for this trophy. All Hordes are automatically marked on the map at the end of the story.

You are allowed to sell ears to bounty sellers. You don't need to have 989 in your inventory at the same time (you can sell the ears and they still count towards the trophy).

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > Lend Me Your Ears.

You'll find various collectibles scattered throughout the world of Days Gone along your journey. Surviving is not living: Rescue 10 survivors

From time to time, you may hear survivors calling for help. They are found in the desert. Sometimes they are defending themselves from Freakers or Humans, other times they are held hostage by Humans, and other times they are trapped in cars. These are random encounters.

Once you've rescued them, you can send them to a camp of your choice to earn trust and/or money. The way to find these people is to listen to their cries for help when they are around.

You should find 10 of them through natural progression. I found her mostly in the day. One place they often appear is at the gas station in northeast Belknap (Marion Forks Infestation), it's a small town with a church.

There you will often see survivors fighting a biker gang or some Freakers, so check back often.

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > Surviving isn't Living.

Improve life through chemistry: Upgrade your health, stamina or focus for the first time

Automatic story-related trophy. Health/stamina/focus upgrades require NERO injectors. You find the first NERO injector during the “He's My Brother” story.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Improved performance: Max out your health, stamina or focus

You can find health, stamina and focus upgrades exclusively from Nero Checkpoints and Nero Research Sites in Days Gone. At each of these points, there will be a box containing the upgrade.

There are enough upgrades in the game to max out all 3 stats, but you only need to max one of them. Health and stamina are the most useful. For the purpose of this trophy, always choose the same stat to refresh so that this is done faster.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Best Friends Forever: Get Trusted Allied Status with a Camp

see the trophy “Best Friends Forever (For Life)”.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Best Friends Forever (For Life): Gain trusted ally status with three different Camps

There are 5 Camps in the game. You only need to reach maximum confidence with 3 of them.

These are the ways you gain confidence:Story Missions

    • History Quests
    • Camp jobs (side Quests)
    • Side Activities (Nero Checkpoints, Infestations, Ambush Camps)
    • Hordes (killing a horde in the region where the camp is located)
    • Rewards (giving Freaker Ears to the camp)
    • Camp kitchen (delivery of plants and animal meat)
    • Survivors (sending Survivors to the camp)

The first 4 options are the most reliable. Do Story Quests, complete Camp Jobs and Side Activities along the way. You can still do all Camp Jobs and Activities after the story in free-roam.

During the story of Days Gone, there are two points of no return that will temporarily block you from certain regions, but after the story everything opens up again and you can finish camp jobs, activities, collectibles, hordes, etc.

Since trust leads to better weapons and bike upgrades, it is recommended that you do your camping jobs and side activities the first chance you get.

This will bring you to Trust Level 2 with most camps, dropping around 10.000 Short Term to Level 3. The remaining Trust is gained by defeating all Hordes in the region.

Hordes will be very difficult at the beginning of the game, save them until after the story! Another benefit is that they are marked on the map for you at the end of the story, so you can save yourself a lot of time looking for them. You will have to create a lot of Hordes in the last skill points and along the way you will get the remaining trust.

In short: don't obsess about getting to Trust 3 during the story. Just do Encampment Jobs to reach level 2. After the story, kill all Hordes to reach level 3.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Make it Rain: Spend 20.000 Credits at a Camp

There are 7 ways to get credits in Days Gone:

    • History Quests
    • Camp jobs (Side Quests)
    • Side Activities (Nero Checkpoints, Infestations, Ambush Camps)
    • Hordes (killing a horde in the region where the camp is located)
    • Rewards (giving Ears of Freakers to the camp)
    • Camp kitchen (delivery of plants and animal meat)
    • Survivors (sending Survivors to the camp)

Each camp has its own currency! So if you earn money at a camp, it can only be spent on that specific camp. Getting 20.000 credits will come naturally when you do all the story missions, camp jobs, and side activities in a region. You must spend all that money on a single camp.

The easiest option is the 3rd camp called “Iron Mike's” in the 3rd region “Lost Lake”. There's a lot to do in this region, and completing all of the story missions, camp jobs, and activities will earn you over 20.000 credits. Buy all Bike Upgrades and Weapons in this field to spend the 20.000.

Note: The end of the 3rd region, “Lost Lake” is a temporary point of no return. This temporarily blocks you from this camp, but it's possible to get back there at the end of the story. After the story, the whole map opens up again and you can go back to all the fields to gain more trust and money from them, so nothing is lost.

You can track this at Storylines > Trophies > Make It Rain.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Welcome to the Party, man: Clear all Ambush Camps, Infestations and NERO Checkpoints in a single region

You'll have to clear ALL of these items in the entire game anyway (not just in one region) for their respective research lines and silver trophies so this naturally occurs along the way.

Days Gone: Game Tips and Trophies Guide

Kitchen Courier: Selling meat or animal plants at any campsite

Pick up any herbs, berries or mushrooms in the desert and take them to a camp kitchen to sell them. You can do this at the first camp you reach (story related). Plants are easier to spot with the "Hawkeyed" survival skill.

    Mr Fahrenheit: Unlock 45 skills

There are exactly 45 skills in Days Gone (3 categories x 15 skills each). So for this trophy you will have to unlock all the skills possible.

This will be one of your last trophies in the game. First, you will have to beat all story missions, camp jobs (side quests) and side activities (infestations, Nero checkpoints, ambush camps).

This will lead to around 40-42 skills in total. To get the last skill points, you'll have to defeat almost every Horde.

Hordes are marked on the map automatically after the story. Save them for last as they are the hardest thing in the game. Even though there are some Return Points during the story, you can return anywhere once the story is over.

Then the whole map opens up again and you can do all the camp jobs, side activities, hordes, etc.

    DIY Oregonian: create 50 items

Items can be crafted from the Weapon Wheel using crafting materials in Days Gone. Simply hold “R1” on the weapon wheel while hovering over a crafting item.

You can craft throwable items, explosives, health items, melee weapons, crossbow bolts, and traps. This will happen naturally as you play through the story.

Building Materials are looted from human enemies and found in most buildings across the world (especially Nero Checkpoints). Materials also respawn after a while and can be picked up at the same locations.
