— The Verge (@verge) October 7, 2017According to a Google spokesperson, "All the machine learning happens inside the camera and Clips doesn't connect to the internet to transfer content. And just like any other camera, nothing leaves the camera until you decide to save and to share".
The company had previously explained what strategy it would use to solve the privacy challenge, noting that, like any other camera, the user needs to save and share the images so that they are released. The camera has an indicator light that remains on and records the photographs automatically, now, the camera needs to be activated by the user to start capturing the images.
