Epic Games Launcher drains laptop battery like Chrome consumes memory

Most people get annoyed by Fortnite pop-ups and games they forget they have installed when opening the Epic Games Store launcher. However, there is a rather annoying problem depending on what you play with. If the computer used is a desktop (desktop PC), you will probably not notice it, but if you are running games on a notebook, you will notice that there is a large consumption of battery, even without any game open, only with the Epic program Games Store in the background.

Tests from the PC World website confirmed that if you use a notebook to play games without plugging it in, the Epic Games Store program can consume considerable battery, even running in the background. An example is the Surface Pro 7+, where the battery drained 20% faster just due to opening the Epic Games app. In the case of the Surface Laptop, the battery was discharged about 8% faster.

In response to PC World, Epic Games said:

"In general, we are actively working to improve performance and reduce power consumption of our launcher."

Unfortunately, Epic Games didn't give any deadline for the high battery consumption to be resolved. If you use a notebook to play games, it is interesting that you do so near an outlet. It is interesting to note that the same tests were performed with the Steam application and there was no high battery consumption.
