Everything we know about the Redmi Note 8 Pro

Redmi is about to launch a new smartphone that could be a turning point for the brand. The company, daughter of Xiaomi, is preparing to put on the market its first smartphone with a 64MP camera and a MediaTek processor. Redmi brand CEO Lu Weibing recently gave a brief summary of what to expect from the cameras, and ended up confirming the smartphone's release date on Twitter. Check below everything that is already known about this new smartphone.

    Camera

Lu Weibing, Redmi Brand Manager, talked about the quality of the 64 MP camera, and after that, more details about the hardware and performance emerged.

This camera is 34% better than a 48MP sensor, which dispenses with a telephoto lens, and can directly achieve an almost perfect optical zoom effect. Its ultra-high 64MP pixels have a resolution of 9248×6936. Also, the sensor avoids a large image format to create more space. Even if the image is cut into six, each of these parts is larger than 4K resolution.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro camera has a 1.6μm large-pixel synthesize, so it can freely switch between ultra-high and super-large pixels. The 64MP sensor relies on 1/1,7 inch photosensitive components. This remains the largest mobile camera sensor on the market.

Rumors indicate that there will be 4 rear sensors: a main 64MP, a 12MP wide-angle, an 8MP optical zoom and the Time of Flight (ToF) for depth of field (used in portrait photos).

The normal version of the Redmi Note 8 is also expected, but according to the certification issued by TENAA, we will have two cameras on the back (the main one will be 12MP) and a front camera with 8MP.

    Processor and battery

The smartphone is set to ditch the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform, and will be powered by Mediatek's 90nm Helio G12T chipset, which will match the performance of the 7nm Kirin 810 SoC, according to its AnTuTu score.

This processor has a better performance than the competitor Snapdragon 710, which has been equipped in the premium mid-ranges of 2019. On AnTuTu, the MediaTek processor managed to reach 283.333 points.

About the battery, not much is expected from a gaming smartphone. Rumors say 5000 mAh, which is acceptable, even more so that MediaTek processors tend to have more battery drains than Snapdragon.

    liquid cooling

The image that shows the liquid cooling was revealed by the manufacturer itself in an ad for the cell phone.

In addition to this processor, which is aimed at the gamer audience, the device will also come with liquid cooling, another feature that makes the smartphone ideal for gaming.

    Fingerprint reader and NFC

Among other features of the device, is that both it and its less beefy version, the Redmi Note 8, must have a fingerprint reader on the back and NFC support.

    Release date and price

Despite the Redmi Note 8 not being in the promotional material for the event, Lu Weibing confirmed on Twitter that the smartphone will be launched at the event. On a Xiaomi forum, the CEO responded with a positive emoji when asked about the launch of the Redmi Note 8 Pro, as you can see below.

The event, which takes place on August 29, should bring the launch of Redmi's smartphone and SmartTV. There is still no information on values, neither from the smartphone nor from the smartTV.

    SmartTV Redmi

In addition to the premium intermediate smartphone, Redmi must present its first SmartTV, which comes to compete with Xiaomi itself. Lu Weibing posted a teaser revealing the TV's release date on his official Weibo profile.
